The ONE+ 18-Volt 13 in. String Trimmer has a lightweight design making it portable and easy to use around your yard. The auto-feed line head will automatically advance the line, so you don’t have to deal with the hassle of bumping. This trimmer is also equipped with a variable speed trigger so you can have more control around fences, masonry, and other areas of your yard. With the press of a button the shaft rotates to an edger so you can quickly tackle your edging needs. The adjustable 11 in. to 13 in. cutting width allows you to optimize your trimmer for increased run time or a wider cut swath. This trimmer comes with a 4.0 Ah battery and charger that are compatible with over 175 RYOBI tools on the RYOBI 18-Volt system, all backed by a 3-year warranty.

I received this for Christmas (I asked for something like this; primarily an edger and my wife was listening). Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am not able to care for my lawn as I once did. I reached an agreement with my neighbor to do a majority of the cutting and trimming. Nevertheless, I can still do some work, albeit a little bit at a time. This is just the ticket; giving our home a neat, finished look.

One design flaw
Overall satisfied with unit and option to use as an edger. But surprised to see that the unit has a engineering design flaw. When using the cutting blade at the 11" setting the line will force the blade to move when it cuts the line shorter. This causes the plastic edge holding the blade straight to break on the small molded plastic platform that the blade is screwed into even after you tighten it as much as possible. The blade doesn't move when set at the 13" cutting length. Other reviews have mentioned the same issue. Definitely a design flaw. I can see contacting Ryobi in the future to replace the grass deflector before the 3 yr warranty is up. Too bad unit doesn't include shoulder strap to hold unit better.

i brought this trimmer for my wife, becaused she was helping me inthe yard ,and the gas one was to heavy for her so i went online and saw this one and got it for her it light weight and she cn go with it fast. she love it.

Works good but Spool releases on its own
I got this a month ago and have a cord trimmer I prefer, The battery trimmer spool release just does it without using the feature causing the spool to go haywire. I got this to use when I'm weeding by my sailboat at a location where electric isn't available. To bad cause I like its features

The motor stopped on third use so exchanged it
Motor stopped at third use. I should have returned not exchanged because an exchange doesn’t start a new 90 day warranty. New one only had the remaining time left of 90 days.

Very versatile product
This is my second trimmer of this type. The older one is still functional but has seen its best days. I bought the new trimmer because I liked the features and functionality of the other. It has not disappointed. There are some noted improvements over the older trimmer and they make a positive difference. I am looking forward to using it in my weekly yard work.
