Rated 5 out of 5 by RL RANCHO from As advertised! This thing is a workhouse! Perfect for mesquite logs at the ranch. Even logs with diameters bigger than ‘10 (only did a few), with no hesitation! This is a life saver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Woody3 from Perfect for what I needed I love my wood-burning fireplace and the wood I buy is always too big. I bought this to replace all the other manual tools I was splitting with. It fits nicely next to my firewood and is easy to use. The bonus for me was how safe it is, well done Ryobi.

Rated 1 out of 5 by James MII from Stopping working after the 6th piece of wood I bought this a day ago. Tested it out in the house, and had ten, 6 inch in diameter, Ash logs, well seasoned and dry as a bone. It made it through 5 of them, no problems, slow going, no resistance, easy splits. Put on the 6th log, and refuses to work. Sounds like the motor is blown. Worked great on 5 pieces of wood, but if have a stack of wood to go through, steer clear of this very frustrating disaster of a machine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MyersT from Stopped working after first season I purchased this product two seasons ago. It worked great the first season. Did exactly what I needed it to do. The second season it stopped working altogether. The engine makes a sort of whining noise like it's trying to work but doesn't. I attempted to contact customer support but was somehow transferred to some sort of online, third party website that charges a fee for service and is in no way affiliated to Ryobi or Home Depot. I then called the customer support number and could not get through. Online reviews suggested replacing the capacitor. I did that. No change. A complete waste of money which might have resulted in identity theft if I was not paying attention. I also have a Ryobi chain saw which stopped working after the first season. It's unfortunate as all my other Ryobi tools are great. These two products are the most expensive and the least effective.

Rated 1 out of 5 by burch767 from broken bought a little over a year ago, and worked fine for a month, then started popping the breaker. replaced capacitor, based off other reviews with same issue, and still popping. took front fan cover off and found difficult to turn. looked over motor and discovered the back housing is cracked at motor assy bolt ear, took apart and found rotor rusty. odd for a sealed motor that was kept indoors during wet and cold weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grumpy1752 from Great so far Works well, better than expected. Split several rounds from 6 - 10 inches as a test. Return speed after split was about 5 secs. All rounds broke cleanly with the exception of one with multiple knots and swirled grain, as expected. Very Happy with tool so far, even had wife splitting a number of rounds and she also found it very easy to use.
